Edie Falco wins Emmy for Lead in Comedy Series Nurse Jackie

Purchase alum Edie Falco made Hollywood history. She is the third actor and first female performer to win Emmys for both comedy and dramatic series roles--Carmela in the Sporanos and her character on Nurse Jackie.

Edie Falco has won four Emmys, two Golden Globes and five Screen Actor's Guild awards. Her latest Emmy is for her role in  Nurse Jackie, as a flawed  pill poping emergency room nurse who juggles patients in a crumbling healthcare system. She deals with the indiscretions of fellow nurses, doctors, as well as her own problems.  Right or wrong she attempts to make sense of the chaos and level the playing field whenever she can.  The half-hour Showtime series begn in 2008.  Edie Falco graduated from the Purchase College Conservatory of Theatre Arts.
