Nelly van Bommel Wins Prizes in National Dance Competition

Nelly van Bommel won the both the First Jury and Audience prizes in the Austin Ballet's third Biennial New American Talent/Dance choreographic project.  Her ballet "Fanfarneta," was one of three commissioned for this national competition. The competition provides a showcase for some of the most promising choreograohers in hte nation.  They compete in a two-week choreogrphic residency with the Ballet Austin Company dancers and then return to premiere their work.  Ms. van Bommel is a Purchase alumna who participated in the competition during a three-week professional leave in March.  She is a lecturer at Purchase and an administrative assistant in the Conservatory of Dance.
