Chrys Ingraham & Jerzy Klebieko Receive Student Engagement Awards

The awards recognize extraordinary commitment, initiative and dedication in helping the College serve its students.

Dr. Chrys Ingraham, Stuyvesant, NY, Professor of Sociology at Purchase College and Mr. Jerzy Klebieko, Yonkers, Assistant Manager of Instructional Technology for the School of Art + Design,  were recently awarded  Student Engagement Awards.

 

The awards are given to a faculty member and staff member annually who demonstrate extraordinary commitment, initiative and dedication, in helping the College serve its students. The award recognizes individuals whose efforts go above and beyond the individual’s job description.

 

Dr. Ingraham has rebuilt the Sociology program.  She has revamped the curriculum, developed a more specific focus, increased internship opportunities and re-energized this major into one of the fastest growing on campus. Students now have a Sociology web site and a new Sociology Lounge where faculty and students can gather and interact. Students have also formed a Sociology Club.  As chair of the Internationalization Task Force, she and her committee proposed development of a new Latin American Studies major. She is also guiding the anthropology faculty in their development of a revised curriculum. Her classes utilize practical learning applications and engage students in high-impact activities such as service learning and study abroad. In her three years at Purchase she is a prime example of a learning-centered educator.

 

Jerzy Klebieko is an instructor and staff member who began as a building manager and technician.  He provides technical support for countless senior projects, class projects and student exhibitions. He enthusiastically helps students when they are experimenting with innovative technology to complete their art projects. Researching solutions and assisting them.

 

The awards will be presented at a Campus convocation in the fall.
