Directed by Ellen Orenstein, the play is about a religious hypocrite who uses his false piety to worm his way into the family and the finances of a wealthy Parisian.  Although written in the 1660’s, Moliere’s classic comedy was a hit on Broadway just a few years ago.  It satirizes humanity’s essential gullibility, and shows how easily one person can gain power over others.

Purchase Repertory Theatre is comprised of actors from the Purchase College School of the Arts Conservatory of Theatre of Arts and Film.  They present innovative interpretations of classic and contemporary plays while bringing the next generation of actors, designers and technicians to the stage.
