Christine Lee explores, stretches and refines the typical associations and intended functions of mundane materials. Her objects and installations reflect her rhythmic, repetitive exploration of outdated, discarded or recycled materials, examining their histories while promoting alternative destinations. She has a tendency to engage in highly process-driven tactile endeavors which draw on her training in the craft-based disciplines of woodworking and furniture design. The work in this exhibition was produced during her residence at the School of Art + Design in the fall of 2009.
The Windgate Artist-in-Residence Program in Applied Design brings a new artist to the College each semester to explore new work. Earlier work can be viewed at http://missleelee.com
