Two Purchase Alums Receive Golden Globe Nominations

Date Released: 12/15/2009

Actor Stanley Tucci was nominated for his supporting role in the film "The Lovely Bones" and actress Edie Falco was nominated for her starring role in the television series "Nurse Jackie."

The Golden Globe Awards are presented annually by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association at a nationally televised ceremony in Hollywood.  This year’s 67th Annual Golden Globes will be presented on January 17.

Stanley Tucci’s nomination is for best performance by an actor in a supporting role in a motion picture for his role as a murderer in The Lovely Bones.

Edie Falco was nominated for best performance by an actress in a television series, comedy or musical for Nurse Jackie.

Golden Globe selections, prior to the Oscars, are often indicators of films that may later receive Oscar Awards. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is a group of about 85 critics and reporters for overseas media outlets.
