Arturo O'Farrill Conducts the Latin Jazz Orchestra Dec. 10

Musicians from the Latin Jazz Program perform with Grammy Award winner O'Farrill at The Performing Arts Center

The Latin Jazz Orchestra conducted by Grammy winner Arturo O’Farrill will take the stage at The Performing Arts Center on December 10 at 7 PM.  Tickets are $20.  Box Office 914-251-6200 or www.artscenter.org. 

 

Arturo O’Farrill is a composer who heads the Latin Jazz Program at the Purchase College Conservatory of Music.  He won a Grammy Award this year for Best Latin Jazz Album for “Song for Chico,” and performs at leading clubs and concert halls.  

 

The musicians are students of the renowned Purchase College School of the Arts Conservatory of Music known for its intensive training for aspiring performers.

 

The selections include:

 

“Manteca Suite” by Dizzy Gillespie and Chico O’Farrill featuring Brendon Lewis in the role of Dizzy.

 

Three compositions by Ray Santos: “Cookin,” “Cochise,” and “Sunny Ray.”

 

Title track of the Grammy winning album “A Song for Chico” by Dafinas Prieto.

 

“Humility” by Tom Harrel.

 

“Starry Nights” by James Seeley.
