Purchase Jazz at Performing Arts Center Dec. 3

 The Purchase Jazz Orchestra conducted by Todd Coolman

Selections include “Totally” and “Abyssinia” by Potter and a Grammy wining arrangement of “Sing, Sing, Sing” by Jim McNally.

Chris Potter is considered one of the finest saxophonists of his generation.

He is well schooled in the masters and brings new contemporary harmonic and rhythmic concepts to his music.  He has performed all over the world and worked with such artists as Marian McPartland, Steely Dan, James Moody and Dave Holland. He has also recorded extensively. 

The Purchase Jazz Orchestra performs big band jazz from all eras and is comprised of Conservatory students from the highly acclaimed Purchase Jazz Program.

Conductor Coolman heads the jazz program at Purchase and is a bassist who performs frequently jazz luminaries James Moody, Ahmal Jamal, the Jon Faddis orchestra and others.

The Purchase Jazz Program provides an intensive training experience for aspiring performers and features one of the finest performer educator faculties in the nation.
