He is a retired high school administrator from the Katonah-Lewisboro school district where he was involved in a variety of sustainability efforts.
At Purchase he will coordinate the College’s efforts toward climate neutrality. He will concentrate on alternative fuels and vehicles, sustainability education across the curriculum, renewable energy, energy-recapture technologies, and the recycling process. He will work with various groups to expand research and community outreach. He will also participate in the college’s tracking of progress towards its goals in sustainability.
He will lead efforts to develop sustainability as a core value and work to quip graduates with the ability to contribute to climate neutrality and sustainable practices in their personal and professional lives.
He will also advance the current sustainability programs which include: the first Zip car program in SUNY colleges; the installation of new energy and water efficient washers and dryers throughout the campus; the recycling redemption center that accepts all brands of cans and plastic bottle beverages; installation of shut-off devices on campus vending machines when not in use; supplying the campus bookstore and convenience store with “Culture of Green” products; establishing the Zimride rideshare/carpool system and lit application to Facebook.
