Professor Todd Coolman Performs on James Moody Album

Jazz great James Moody’s latest album is called “4A” and features Professor Todd Coolman on bass. The new disc by IPO Recordings features legendary pianist Kenny Barron, James Moody playing tenor saxophone, and Lewis Dash on drums. This is the tenth album Coolman has recorded with James Moody and he considers it one of Moody’s best in the last 20 years.

James Moody has a healthy respect for tradition but delights in discovering new musical paths as is evident on this recording making him one of the most consistently expressive and enduring figures in modern jazz. Mr. Moody and his wife Linda created the James Moody Scholarship Endowment Fund in 2005 to support outstanding jazz students from the jazz program headed by Todd Coolman at Purchase College.

Next spring Todd Coolman will perform at Carnegie Hall with Moody at the concert on April 7, 2010 celebrating James Moody 85^th Birthday.
