Maestro Michael Adelson will conduct the Purchase Symphony Orchestra
on March 27 at 8 PM in The Performing Arts Center.

The Orchestra will perform Erik Satie's "Gymnopedia No. 1", Igor Stravinsky's "Symphony in C", and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade, op.35."
Soloists from the Conservatory of Music's Voice and Opera Department will present a pre-concert performance at 7:30 PM of musical selections reflecting the theme "Environment is Everything."
Michael Adelson of the New York Philharmonic and Mannes School of Music has had an extensive career as a composer and conductor. Since debuting with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 1992, he has led orchestras around the world, including New York Philharmonic, Helsinki Philharmonic, Finnish and Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestras, and New Jersey Symphony, among others. Maestro Adelson also conducts for productions, notably the world premiere of Qu Xiao-Song's "Oedipus".
He is an active composer who has lead workshops in conducting and orchestral technique for educational conductors and students here and abroad. He has guest lectured and conducted for New York Philharmonic Department of Education; Connecticut College; Helsinki University; Harvard University; Brandeis University; Accademia di Musica, Sassini (Italy); Rencontres Musicales Europeenes (France); Orkester Norden (Finland); and Copenhgagen Musicological Institute (Denmark).
The Purchase Symphony Orchestra features students from the School of the Arts, Conservatory of Music.
