The Charles and Lucille King Family Foundation awards the King Family Scholarship to college juniors and seniors majoring in television and film production to reward them for academic excellence. Students are evaluated based on academic achievement, financial need, and professional potential. The scholarships are awarded to the most elite students in the country.
Alex has distinguished himself academically and as a filmmaker. He and another student were commissioned to produce a short documentary about the Focus on French Cinema Film Festival which will be shown at the 2009 Festival.
As a boy growing up in Vashon Island, WA, Alex was interested in film and performance and has appeared in more than fifteen theatrical productions. After a year at Evergreen State in Washington he decided to pursue a career in film. He traveled thousands of miles, relying solely on public transportation in his quest for a distinguished film school and was accepted into the Film Program at Purchase College.
