The Purchase Repertory Theatre presents American Blues by Tennessee Williams, April 25-May 3 at the Purchase College Performing Arts Center. This selection of short plays is directed by Benard Cummings and performed by the Junior Acting Company. Tennessee Williams has a distinct talent for writing short plays. In this remarkable collection of one-acts, he presents some of his most poignant and hilarious characters.
Benard Cummings has directed the Purchase Repertory Theatre productions of Flyin’ West and The Three Sisters. He has also directed for the Alchemy Theatre Off-Broadway, and for the Stella Adler Studio of Acting and Tyler Junior College. Cummings has acted in regional theatre across the United States including Yale Rep, Arena Stage, Goodman Theatre, Folger Shakespeare Theatre of D.C. and the Hartford Stage. His plays have been produced in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Louisville, Atlanta and London. He is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama, Southern Methodist University and Tyler Junior College.
