Purchase College Awarded $200,000 Research Grant to Assist Students with Asperger’s Syndrome

Robin Kaufman, Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Director of Counseling, received a $200,000 grant from the FAR Fund for “Asperger’s Syndrome: College & Beyond, Preparing for the Future.” The project will assist students with Asperger’s Syndrome in their efforts to navigate college and deal with the new social situations and experiences that face them, and then move successfully into the workplace. The four-year grant will provide $50,000 each year for the project. The students will receive regular and active counseling and mentoring. Education for the campus community will also be provided, in particular for the various boards of study, to help them understand the needs of these students.
