Purchase Philosophy Professors Jennifer Uleman and Casey Haskins are two of the choreographed “players” in the participatory work “This Situation” by German artist Tino Sehgal at the Marian Goodman Gallery in New York City. This is Mr. Sehgal’s first New York show.
The work is performed six days a week by a rotating group of six players (from a group of 30 trained artists) who have an unscripted discussion based on a quotation spoken by one of the players. The quotations were selected by the artist from three centuries of Western thought.
“This Situation” runs through January 10. For a review of the show in the New York Times, featuring a photo of Professor Haskins (second from left), click on this link: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/14/arts/design/14gall.html?ref=arts.
