Shuangli Zhang, a Fulbright Scholar at Purchase College and Professor of Philosophy at Fudan University in Shanghai, China, will discuss “Chinese Universities and Their Environmental Concerns,” November 7 at 4:30 PM in the Red Room of the Student Services Building at Purchase College. Professor Zhang is one of the youngest associate professors of philosophy at Fudan University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Anhui University, and her master’s and doctoral degrees from Fudan University.
At Purchase College this fall she is teaching “Philosophy of Modernity in Contemporary China,” a study of how Chinese thinkers came to terms with, and reflected upon the condition of modernity. The course examines thinkers from the mid-nineteenth through the twenty-first centuries.
In addition to teaching, Dr. Zhang works with the Purchase Women’s Studies faculty to explore how greater internationalization of women’s studies could be furthered in the curriculum.
