Paul Lustig Dunkel, music director and conductor of the Westchester Philharmonic, will serve as guest conductor of the Purchase Symphony Orchestra for Mozart & Mahler, a concert featuring the music of these two wonderful composers, November 16 at 8 PM at the Purchase College Performing Arts Center. Paul Lustig Dunkel has been music director as well as conductor of the Westchester Philharmonic since its founding in 1983. He has led the orchestra to national prominence for the excellence of its performance and for its innovations in programming, education and community engagement. He has worked with some of the pre-eminent composers, performers and institutions of 20th century American music in his multi-faceted career as conductor, flutist, arranger and writer. His work with the Westchester Philharmonic has been recognized by the American Society of Composers and Publishers (ASCAP), the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts, the Westchester Arts Council and by the American Symphony Orchestra League who presented him with its Leopold Stokowski Conducting Award. He has served as music director of the Denver Chamber Orchestra, principal conductor of the Vermont Mozart Festival, and has appeared as a guest conductor with the Denver, Baltimore, Buffalo, New Jersey, Oakland, Syracuse, Richmond and American Symphonies.
