A musical celebration of the Conservatory of Music’s new harp with Professor Emily Mitchell, who will be joined by the iO Quartet, the Billy Joel Graduate String Quartet in Residence; and harpists Irantzu Aguirre, Liza Jensen and Tiffany Yusko. The program includes Mozart’s” Concerto in C Major, K. 415” (arr. E. Mitchell) and Rosenhaus’s “For the Gipsy in My Soul.” 8 PM, Recital Hall.

Wednesday, October 10
Professor Calvin Wiersma, violin, performs a new work by Suzanne Farrin, chair of composition. Wiersma was a founding member of the Meliora Quartet and is currently a violinist with the Manhattan String Quartet and the Purchase Conservatory Quartet. Farrin has been commissioned to write pieces for combinations as diverse as Irish bagpipes and string quartet to solo pieces and works for vibraphone. 8 PM, Recital Hall.

With cellist Matt Haimovitz. Since his auspicious debut with the Israel Philharmonic and Zubin Mehta in 1985, Haimovitz has displayed an independent spirit and creative vision that has captivated critics and audiences worldwide.
