The Princeton Review has once again selected Purchase College for inclusion in its Best 366 Colleges guide for 2008.
Purchase joins a select group of schools chosen for their outstanding academics. Only about 15% of the four-year colleges in America and two Canadian colleges were chosen for the book based on institutional data from the schools, feedback from students, and school visits. Over 120,000 students were surveyed for the guide and their opinions provide insight into campus life in over 60 categories.
The book includes a two-page profile of Purchase based upon quotes from current students. Among the comments, “Purchase College is the SUNY system’s answer to the region’s many high priced conservatories and arts schools set within a public liberal arts and sciences college.” “‘Campus activities are amazing,’” a result of the art school/proximity to New York combo, which helps bring nationally recognized figures in the arts to speak on a regular basis.…” “Purchase is where the dancers, musicians, actors, visual artists, liberal arts and science majors, etc. are all interacting with one another to create a really interesting group of students.”
Purchase is also included in the fourth tier of the US News and World Report rankings of the nation’s top Liberal Arts Colleges for 2008.
