Jazz Professor Jon Faddis Featured in PBS Tribute to Ella Fitzgerald June 6

Purchase jazz professor and world-renowned trumpeter Jon Faddis appears on PBS’s Great Performances “We Love Ella! A Tribute to the First Lady of Song,” premiering Wednesday, June 6 on most PBS stations (check local listings for time).

Recorded  in April at  USC’s Galen Center to mark what would have been Fitzgerald’s 90th birthday, Faddis performs “Lady Be Good” with saxophonist James Moody, pianist George Duke and drummer Gregg Field, backed by USC’s Thornton Symphony and Jazz Orchestra.

Also appearing and performing at the tribute concert are hosts Natalie Cole and Quincy Jones, Patti Austin, Nancy Wilson, Stevie Wonder, Wynonna Judd, Lizz Wright and others.

A companion tribute CD was released on June 5 on Verve Records.
