THE CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC PRESENTS "MUSIC FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON," DEC. 14

The Purchase College School of the Arts, Conservatory of Music presents
Music for the Holiday Season, featuring the Purchase Opera and the Purchase Camerata, December 14 at 8 PM in the Purchase College Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling the Box Office at 914-251-6200 or visiting www.artscenter.org

The evening’s program includes Carrisimi’s most famous oratorio, Jephthe, the Old Testament parable of Jewish obedience to God, and the Christmas section of Handel’s Messiah with the Purchase College Chorus.

The concert will be conducted by Hugh Murphy, Director of Musical Staff and principal conductor for Voice and Opera at the Conservatory of Music. He has been coaching professional singers for the past fifteen years, preparing them to record and perform with the world’s leading orchestras and opera companies.

The Purchase Opera and Camerata feature students from the School of the Arts, Conservatory of Music. The Purchase Opera is directed by the award-winning Jacque Trussel, Chair of Voice and Opera. The Purchase Camerata is directed by the Grammy award-nominated Bradley Brookshire, Chair of Graduate Studies. 

The Purchase Opera won the National Opera Association’s Opera Production Competition in 2004 for its production of Hänsel und Gretel and in 2005 for its production of Dialogue of the Carmelites.
