The official website of the home of the U.S. President. It contains White House news, audio files of major speeches, executive acts, appointments and policy information. The site also contains areas for the First Lady and Vice President.

 

Beyond Therapy: Biotechnology and the Pursuit of Happiness. President's Council on Bioethics
This report intends to outline, but not definitively answer, some of the philosophical and moral dilemmas raised by recent advances in biotechnology. For example, is it ethical to use recently developed genetic testing techniques to produce children with more "desirable" behavioral, gender, and performance characteristics? Should we use methods for improving muscle performance only to treat disease, or may they also be used to produce superior athletes? How will society's future responses to such questions be addressed in legislative action?

 

National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon The United States (also known as the 9-11 Commission) 
An independent, bipartisan commission created by congressional legislation and the signature of President George W. Bush in late 2002, the 9-11 Commission was chartered to completely and fully investigate the events surrounding the attacks of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001.  It was additionally was charged to explore the issues of the nation's preparedness for and the immediate response to the attacks and to make recommendations for future safeguards against foreign terrorrist attacks. The Commission website includes an archived index of all sessions held in public hearing forum as well as text about the Commission members, staff statements and a link for family members of victims on that infamous day.

Weekly Compilation of Presidential Documents
These documents are published every Monday by the Office of the Federal Register, National Archives and Records Administration and contains statements, messages, and other Presidential materials released by the White House during the preceding week.
 
Office of Management and Budget
The budget of the US Government as a collection of documents issued by the OMB. They contain the budget message from the President, budget proposals, and other budgetary documents. The Econimic Report of the President is also featured.
 
Directory of Executive Agencies
This comprehensive hyperlinked list of Executive Agencies is maintained by the Library of Congress. Examples of Executive Agencies include the Department of State, Department of Defense and Department of Commerce. Independent agencies, boards, commissions and committees are also listed.
 
Federal Register
This periodical is published by the Office of the Federal Register (OFR), US National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). It is the official publication for Presidential Documents and Executive Orders, as well as Notices, Rules and Proposed Rules from Federal agencies and organizations. The Federal Register is published Monday through Friday, except Federal holidays.
 
The Code of Federal Regulations
The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) is a codification of the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register by the executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government. The CFR online is a joint project authorized by the publisher, the National Archives and Records Administration's Office of the Federal Register, and the Government Printing Office (GPO).
 
List of CFR Sections Affected (LSA)
Because the CFR is revised annually (certain parts each quarter), there are gaps in the knowledge of the status of a regulation as it moves from the Federal Register to the CFR. This resources, the LSA is published monthly and may be used in conjunction with Current List of CFR Parts Affected in the Federal Register to pull together complete information about the status of a regulation.
