Printmaking Artist in Residence: Hector Sonon

The School of Art+Design and the Printmaking Department are pleased to be hosting Beninese artist, Hector Sonon.

A professional illustrator and a prize-winning political cartoonist, this residency provides an opportunity for the artist to use printmaking processes for the first time.  During his 2-weeks on campus, he will be working with printmaking students on a collaborative project as well as meeting with students/classes from across the school to share his experiences as an artist living and working in West Africa.

Sonon is part of a delegation of artists, musicians, filmmakers, curators and writers coming for the T(Here): A Festival of Global Arts, Culture & Ideas being held at Purchase College, September 27 – 29, 2018.  His public presentation, Artist in the Studio: Hector Sonon, is Thursday, September 27 from 2:30-4:30 in the printmaking studios.

Support for this project from the Office of Academic Affairs, Office of International Programs, Office of Diversity and Compliance, Office of Student Affairs, School of the Arts, School of Art+Design, and The Performing Arts Center.
