Fundamentals of Painting

In this hands-on workshop, participants will delve into the core principles of painting, covering essential topics such as light, shape, form, value, and color theory. A teaching artist from the Purchase College faculty will lead the eight (8) 90-minute weekly sessions in a small group setting of no more than twelve (12) art-minded participants. Through a series of engaging exercises and demonstrations, participants will learn how to create dynamic compositions, achieve realistic perspective, master the interplay of light and shadow, and understand the complexities of color mixing.

June-July 2024

Repurpose with Purpose!

Join us this summer for an exciting journey into the world of Collage + Mixed Media and Sculptural Assemblage. These series will spark your creativity as we explore the innovative transformation of upcycled materials including paper, cardboard, product packaging, household items, wire, foil, and fabric into captivating artistic collaged compositions and 3D sculptures.

Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just starting out, these workshops will offer a supportive, inspiring environment to develop your skills and express your artistic vision. Each session will offer guided instruction, hands-on practice, and plenty of artistic freedom. Come join us to connect with fellow art enthusiasts, learn new techniques, and create unique, expressive artworks using everyday upcycled materials.

Select one workshop series or register for both. Morning and afternoon sessions will held each week on Tuesday and Thursday.
