What We Do
The 8 Areas of Wellness: Why we do what we do
The Wellness Center aims to help students live a healthy balanced life while on campus and beyond. Our programming comes from the eight areas that comprise a state of wellness. These areas are: Environmental, Emotional, Social, Occupational, Intellectual, Financial, Physical and Spiritual. The Wellness Center supports workshops and programming to help raise students awareness about the eight areas of Wellness and the relationship between these areas and a state of health and well being.
The Wellness Center also is a confidential resource on campus for students to seek help, get advice or receive counseling about substance use or abuse. Students who seek help around substances, or are concerned about a friends habits, can make an appointment at the Wellness Center.
Substance Use Counseling
The Wellness Center can provide Purchase students voluntary supportive confidential counseling about their substance use or recovery. Students interested in receiving these services should contact the Counseling Center to set up an initial consultation.
Yoga
The Wellness Center also offers free Yoga classes ‘for a natural high’ to all Purchase students. Taught by licensed Yoga Practitioners, the classes help our students de-stress, ground themselves, be mindful and comfortable in their body.
Wellness will be offering virtual yoga classes in the Fall 2020 semester. For schedule updates please visit our online Yoga Schedule.
