As the semester wraps up, I took some time to reflect back on this not-so-normal year of virtual classes and lots of ZOOM time and to look ahead at what might be coming next.

What You Missed + What’s Next: Two Talks with Artist Barbara Ségal
This past Thursday I had the chance to join other Purchase students for an online discussion with artist Barbara Ségal and Purchase College professor of art history Paul Kaplan. The Zoom discussion was led by Rebecca (Rem) Ribeiro, one of the M+ cohort students responsible for organizing the Concentrated Power project highlighting Ségal’s sculpture, Dash, that is on view now in the Open Classroom at the Neuberger Museum of Art.
First Through the Doors
Last week I had the opportunity to be one of the first students to walk back through the museum’s doors after over a year of the building being closed to the public. As a remote student, being back on campus felt surreal, but as soon as I walked back through the exhibits at the Neuberger I felt like I was back home as a campus resident once again.
A Peek into the Open Classroom: Concentrated Power
The latest Open Classroom project by Purchase M+ graduate students debuts this week at the Neuberger Museum of Art.

All the new social distancing requirements that have been implemented on campus this year mean many of us who are attending in person classes have probably found ourselves in some non-traditional classrooms. Last fall, the Purchase College Conservatory of Theatre Arts took over the Neuberger Museum’s massive South Gallery for some of its courses. The new location led to an unexpected opportunity for collaboration.
