Lecturer of Communications
Mandy Giampaolo is a Brooklyn-based writer, film editor, director, and teacher.
She received her BA from the University of Virginia, where she majored in Media Studies and American Studies (with a concentration in the American South), and minored in Studio Art. Later she was awarded the prestigious Dean’s Fellowship from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where she received her MFA from the Kanbar Institute for Film and Television in 2022. She currently teaches at the School of the New York Times, while also pursuing her own narrative and documentary work. As a life-long student, her scholarly interests include audio-visual storytelling, media theory, semiotics, and feminist film analysis.
