Laura Doherty

Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Executive Director of the Purchase College Foundation and Charitable Entities

Laura comes to Purchase with two decades of higher education advancement experience and a proven track record as a successful fundraiser and advancement administrator. Prior to leading the Office of Institutional Advancement at Purchase College, Laura was the Associate Dean of Advancement at the Mason School of Business at William & Mary and CEO of the Mason School’s affiliated foundation.

Among Laura’s professional accomplishments, she led efforts to fund the Mason School’s strategic priorities, more than doubling the size of the foundation’s endowment, increasing unrestricted annual fund totals by 30 percent, and providing start-up capital for new degree programs.

Prior to her position at William & Mary, Laura held multiple leadership roles at Randolph-Macon College where she launched and completed a capital campaign and managed all aspects of development. She also held director level positions at the University of Richmond and the University of Virginia.

Laura holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Virginia and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Richmond.

Reporting directly to the President, Laura will be an important member of the President’s cabinet. She will lead the Purchase College advancement team in spearheading all development and fundraising initiatives and will be responsible for fostering and building upon relationships with foundations, corporations, alumni, and individual supporters that benefit our students, faculty, and staff, and the future of the college.
