Activity: Words in Art

Artists use words in artworks to change and create new meanings. In his work titled Grow, artist Les Levine positions the word “GROW” on top of a landscape.

In this one-page activity worksheet created for Earth Day 2021, young artists will transform Levine’s artwork by making their own color choices inspired by what they see growing around them this spring and choosing how to represent the word “GROW” in their artwork.
