Peggy Smith Luy is a strong advocate for higher education with decades of experience, knowledge, and insights related to leading and implementing fundraising and major gifts efforts, overseeing corporate and foundation relations and planned giving campaigns, grant writing and engaging alumni, and fostering strategic collaboration across departments and academic programs.
Her professional appointments include recently serving as the Executive Vice President for Alumni and Development at Davenport University from 2012–2019, where she successfully directed a $25 million capital campaign achieving a $27.6 million in commitments one year ahead of schedule. Luy was responsible for increasing their endowment by 50% over a five-year period.
From 1995–2012 as Vice President for Alumni and Development for Milliken University in Decatur, Illinois, Luy oversaw all aspects of planning and implementation for communication, alumni, and development programs. At Millikin, she also planned, launched, and directed the $85 million Transform MU capital campaign, May 2010–December 2015; achieving $55.6 million in commitments including at the time of her departure (9 months ahead of schedule) the largest gift in the university’s history of $11.5 million.
