Lecturer in Film
Courtney Stephens is a director and writer. Her work has screened at many festivals and museums including the Berlinale, the New York Film Festival, South by Southwest, Hong Kong International Film Festival, the Wexner Center for the Arts, and the Exploratorium, among many others. Her films range in genre from feminist experimental shorts to archival lecture performance, to a feature about fragments of the Berlin Wall. They are often language-driven, and draw from her training in narrative filmmaking.

Stephens also works as a film programmer, co-founding the Los Angeles microcinema Veggie Cloud, and collaborating with institutions like The Getty Museum, the Museum of the Moving Image, Human Resources, Union Docs, and The Flaherty. She is the recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship to India, a MacDowell Fellowship, and was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film.”
