Stephen Maine

Lecturer of Art and Design

A painter and critic, Stephen began teaching at the School of Art+Design in 2016 and has been on the faculty at the School of Visual Arts, Parsons, and Hartford Art School. His paintings have been seen recently in New York at ODETTA, Hionas Gallery, and Silas von Morisse Gallery, and in Connecticut at ICEHOUSE Project Space in Sharon and Five Points Gallery in Torrington. Maine has received support from the New York Foundation for the Arts (2000) and Yaddo (2012) and is a long-time member of American Abstract Artists and the International Association of Art Critics. Maine’s solo exhibitions have been featured in ARTnews, Artcritical.com, the Brooklyn Rail, The New Criterion, and twocoatsofpaint.com.
