Shelby Wardlaw grew up reading and writing in Austin, Texas – back when it was just a hippie town with neither food scene nor skyline.

She earned a B.A. in English and Russian from Vassar College, an M.A. in Comparative Literature from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Columbia University.  Her fiction has appeared in Drafthorse Literary Journal and the Columbia Anthology. Her translated poems – from the Russian Futurist poet Elena Guro – were published in Interim. She is currently working on a dystopia novel set in Texas.
