Sanjay S. Santhanam
Sanjay S. Santhanam is a private investor who, for the past seven years, invested his family assets into public and private companies. He was a partner at the multi-billion dollar Galleon Group, which was one of the largest hedge fund management funds in the world. In this role, Mr. Santhanam was managing member of Galleon International (non-US) and oversaw both Galleon Quantitative and Galleon’s Asian private equity businesses. Galleon Quantitative was primarily comprised of statistical arbitrage, index arbitrage, options arbitrage, and CTA type strategies. He started these businesses for Galleon and was responsible for their operations. Additionally, Mr. Santhanam recruited and hired the trading teams and co-managed Galleon’s CIO portfolio from Singapore and negotiated and ran Galleon’s JV partnerships with local firms in the region. Prior to the launch of these businesses, he was based in New York as Galleon’s Global Head of Risk Management and also oversaw asset allocation, strategy, and business development for Galleon Group.
Before Galleon, Mr. Santhanam was at The Rock Creek Group, a multi-billion dollar alternative investment firm, where he was focused on risk management, portfolio construction, and manager selection. Prior to that, he was managing principal of VS Asset Management and Chaos Systems, where he developed and traded fundamental and statistical systems globally for equities, commodities, fixed income and foreign exchange. Before VS Asset, he was senior researcher and chief financial officer for a RPP International, a public policy think tank.
Mr. Santhanam obtained his BS with Honors in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Delhi, India and did post-graduate work in Applied Mathematics and Management Science at the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of California at Berkeley, respectively. He currently resides in Greenwich, Connecticut and has three children.
