Eugenia Cawley

Lecturer, Expository and College Writing

After earning an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College, Eugenia Cawley began teaching English Composition: Exploration and Authorship and Writing Across the Disciplines as an adjunct instructor at John Jay College. In addition, she teaches English Composition and Introduction to Literature at the Borough of Manhattan Community College.

In Eugenia’s own words: “What’s wonderful and ironic about teaching writing is that it was one of the subjects I struggled with in junior and high school as well as in my undergraduate journey. As an immigrant from Sierra Leone, West Africa, English is not my native tongue. I learned English in school and worked hard to develop the confidence to express myself through writing. My hope is that my writing students will learn that writing for everyone. It is a process by which we learn to express ourselves with words.”
