Doug Watters

Doug Watters focuses on designing and building custom furniture, wood sculpture, and woodturning. He enjoys the surprise of natural wood’s beauty when a board is split open to build furniture or a fallen tree is turned on the lathe. His work emphasizes exposing the character and color in the wood, including interesting cracks, bark, “curled” grain, burl, and other natural features. He has worked for Robert Martin Designs and as a teaching assistant for Wendy Maruyama, Brian Newell, Mark Gardner, and several other contemporary furniture-making masters.
