4 Redecorating Tips to Boost Your Interior Design Game
By Jared Bernacchia’17
When it comes down to it, redecorating your home is really all about expressing yourself. The best interior design tips come from the people that tell you to just go with the flow: listen to your heart, follow your instinct, all that good stuff. It’s all about you, so make it as such.
But, don’t let the pressure get to you. Redecorating your home can be a trying time, especially if you’re somebody who doesn’t multitask very well (I speak from experience!). There’s nothing wrong with asking for a little help from time to time!
And that’s where Denise Gianna comes in. On top of running her own super-awesome interior design company (Denise Gianna Designs) in Beacon, NY, Gianna is an instructor for the interior design program at Purchase College. Our style-savvy interior design instructor recently offered up some tips to help you through the stress of redecorating. Here’s what she said.
Four Redecorating Tips from Denise Gianna
Redecorating Tip #1
Keep what you love and ditch what you don’t.
Redecorating Tip #2
If you love it, it’s worth up-cycling or reupholstering. However, spend your money on a professional to help you save costly mistakes.
Redecorating Tip #3
You can’t buy space. Filling up every bit of space is can be trying, stressful and overbearing. Space gives you room to breathe.
Redecorating Tip #4
Paint may be the simplest and cheapest way to update or improve your space, but unless you’re super confident with color, enlist professional help choosing.
Feeling better yet? If not, you can take a more practical approach to improving your redecorating skills and overall sense of creativity.
