Streaming film requests due August 7

Faculty: please submit Fall 2020 streaming film requests by August 7 using the Streaming Requests Form.

New deadline for streaming film requests: August 7th

Please s
ubmit your requests ASAP via the Streaming Requests Form.

(Note: the ebooks request deadline remains July 24th. All ebook requests for classes should be sent to your subject liaison librarian via email.)

To date, the Library has received only a handful of streaming film requests for Fall 2020. While we can’t guarantee that all requested materials will be acquired, we need a clear picture of faculty needs in order to better advocate on your behalf.

Please think ahead for both Fall and Spring semesters. Being able to acquire titles for the entire academic year will help us negotiate the best deals and ensure your needs are met. (For example: Kanopy is willing to negotiate better pricing with us if we can determine titles needed for the entire 2020/2021 academic year by mid-August). Due to budget constraints, we may be unable to fill any streaming requests placed after the August 7th deadline (Kanopy or otherwise).

We urge you to explore the content we already subscribe to, on our Multimedia Guide. To request a film that is not currently available in the Library’s streaming collections, please fill out the Streaming Requests Form.

Be sure to fill out the “assignment and description for use” field. It does not matter if the titles are big box office, documentary or experimental; we need to show that the film is tied to a particular assignment to justify the expense. (Requests for films for exploration, casual viewing, individual faculty research, or senior project research will be handled separately. Please use the form only for films needed for classes).

Finally, we encourage you to take advantage of our Library’s longstanding partnership with the Westchester Library System. WLS can give you access to 20 Kanopy titles per month, Hoopla movies, ebooks, audiobooks via Overdrive, LinkedIn Learning (formerly Lynda.com) and more. Anyone with an active @purchase.edu email account can sign up for a card, regardless of whether or not you reside in Westchester. All applications are processed online, and turnaround time is often just 1-2 days. Please see our FAQ on How do I Obtain a Westchester Library System Card?
