Rescheduled for May 20th - Sign on to Zoom with your Purchase Credentials only
To avoid a conflict with the Faculty at Large meeting on Tuesday the 19th, we have rescheduled the Zoom upgrade to switch over to a Single Sign-On (SSO) to Wednesday May 20.
After the 20th everyone with a Purchase College email account will use their regular Purchase Credentials (firstname.lastname@example.org and your password) to access Zoom.
By making this change to SSO, you won’t need a separate password to access Zoom. There are also new security features such as requiring meeting attendees to register in advance and only allowing authenticated users to join classes or meetings. Students attending classes will also have to log into Zoom with their Purchase credentials.
Existing meetings and settings in a current Zoom account will be kept when we switch to SSO.Students with an existing personal Zoom account that uses their purchase.edu email address will be asked to either join Purchase’s Zoom account or change the email address on their personal Zoom account to a non-purchase.edu address. We can assign licenses to accounts if necessary and upgrade or downgrade between a free account and Pro account.
During the migration on 5/20 there may be intermittent periods that day when you are unable to log into Zoom.
A day without Zoom? - what are we supposed to do? If you need to have a meeting on Wednesday, 5/20 please contact CTS - we have alternatives.
