Meet Our New Assistant Chief of Police

Samuel Ramos is our new Assistant Chief of Police.

Assistant Chief of Police Samuel Ramos joined us in August.  Assistant Chief Ramos will be responsible for managing the day-to-day supervisory operations of the agency and assisting me with strategic planning for campus wide public safety.

Assistant Chief Ramos has served as a Police officer for 19 years and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Stony Brook University.  He began his career as a police officer in 2000 at the SUNY Downstate Command where he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. Assistant Chief Ramos was previously assigned to the SUNY Stony Brook Command where he was directly responsible for 15 police officers who served a daily campus population of over forty thousand faculty, staff, students, and visitors. 

Assistant Chief Ramos has extensive training and experience in emergency management from both his experience in law enforcement and his career in the armed forces.  His career in the United States Army spans over twenty years, during which time he has achieved numerous awards and distinctions.  He currently serves in the U.S. Army Reserves.

He also maintains a Division of Criminal Justice Police Instructor Certification and a host of advanced leadership training’s that will be a great benefit to our community.
