Class of 2019 Senior Speaker: Anaya Brannon ’19
She has lived in both Queens and the Bronx and graduated from Flushing, Queens’ Townsend Harris High School in 2015.
While at Purchase, Brannon served as a resident assistant in the Office of Community Engagement and she worked at our new food pantry. She also performed at countless events on campus, ranging from fundraisers for Planned Parenthood to the two most recent Culture Shock festivals. In April, Brannon curated her own show for artists of color and hopes to continue curating similar events in the future.
Despite her level of involvement in campus life, Brannon remained on the Dean’s List for her four years as a full-time undergraduate student.
Brannon would like to thank her mom for always picking up the phone at four in the morning during stressful moments; her dad for co-producing the demos that were submitted to the studio composition audition; and the rest of her family for providing the support she needed to get to this important milestone.
She would also like to thank the Purchase community for bringing her so much happiness and allowing her to grow into the woman she has become. Lastly, she’d like to thank God for providing the opportunity to pursue a higher education and meet all the friends she’s made along the way.
After graduation, Brannon plans to pursue her music full time, releasing her first solo project and continuing to write candidly about her experiences.
