What You Should Know: Surviving Finals

The Wellness Center offers tips and advice for students.

At the Wellness Center, we employ a combination of holistic, educational, therapeutic, and preventative services to encourage students’ overall health and wellness.

Final exams are scheduled for December 11–15.

Exam week can be a particularly stressful time for students. How can you help? First, acknowledge the demands placed on your students, and encourage them with positive messages. Consider sending a care package with treats from home—think anti-stress balls, lavender-scented items for relaxation, or some of their favorite (hopefully healthy) snacks, or maybe a simple card promising a happy activity at home during winter break. A few words of support will go a long way.

Upcoming Events

You can also encourage your students to attend one of the events we’ll be hosting leading up to and during finals week:

On Wednesday, December 6, the Wellness Center is collaborating with the Psychology Club and the Self Care Club to host our semi-annual Spa Night from 5:30–7:30 pm. We’ll have chair massages, light snacks, art activities, a place to socialize, relaxing music, and more.

Who doesn’t love puppies? On Wednesday, December 13, from 12:30–2:30 pm, we’ll again collaborate with the Psychology Club to host Puppy Therapy. Students can get on the floor and play with eight to ten puppies in the Wellness Center. They’ll catch a mental break and reduce their stress levels in the meantime.

Finally, our regular weekly schedule of free yoga and mediation classes will continue until the end of the semester.
