Report for CARES [HEERF I]

CARES [HEERF I] Student Portion

SUNY at Purchase College has received $2,145,259 from the Department of Education pursuant to the Certification and Agreement [for] Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

SUNY at Purchase College has determined 3,984 students at the institution are eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act.

SUNY at Purchase College has prioritized awarding of Emergency Financial Aid Grants to its students in the following manner:

The first method awards a CARES Base Grant to all eligible students, with a higher award amount for those who are high-need in contrast to those who are not. High-need eligible students are awarded a $900 in a Base Grant and all other eligible students are awarded $300. A high-need student is an undergraduate who is Pell eligible or graduate student with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) below $5,576.

After these Base Grants are issued, students may submit additional documentation to apply for Enhanced Grants for allowable expenses they have incurred or expect to incur above the amount of their base grant. The maximum sum any student may receive is $6,195.

Under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act, students received awards ranging from $300 to $900.
