The Stood: The Place Where Your Friends Are

The Student Center (a.k.a. The Stood) at Purchase College hosts a plethora of activities throughout the week, ranging from club meetings to parties during the weekends. The Stood, in my opinion, is a gem on the Purchase Campus not only because of the events that occur in the space but also because of the aesthetic and culture within The Stood.
It’s a place of independent thinking, counter culture, and unique people. The interior of The Stood is decorated with graffiti and murals from floor to ceiling alongside space dedicated to reading student zines and literature, skateboarding, and playing arcade games.
The Stood plays host to many events throughout the year such as Mount Olympus, musical theatre club events, band events in the Dino Room, poetry nights, and club parties hosted by the likes of the Hip-Hop Club or Latinos Unidos.
However, there are four major events that occur every year that are important to know about: Fall Ball (a drag show by and for students), Fall Fest (an indie music festival), Glitter Ball (a party with lots of glitter), and Culture Shock (a large music festival and carnival in the spring).
The Stood is an epicenter for student-run and organized activities on the Purchase College campus, with events for all types of students with different interests.
