The Performing Arts Center @ Purchase College

The Performing Arts Center at Purchase College is a fantastic asset that we have at this school that students need to know about and take advantage of. To begin, the PAC (for short) is not technically a part of Purchase College but is its own organization located on our campus.
The PAC does, however, invite students to perform there. Acting BFA shows are often held in the large black-box theatre, you can find most of the Opera performances in the Recital Hall, and numerous Theatre and Performance productions in the Underground theatre.
Because the PAC isn’t just a college-run organization, it’s not unusual for really remarkable artists to perform at the PAC, drawing a huge crowd from the public in our local area and beyond. Just since I’ve been in college I’ve seen performances by Patti LuPone, Black Violin, Joanna Gleason, multiple Philharmonics, Alvin Ailey Dance Company and so much more.
Now, here’s something even more remarkable. Tickets for these shows would usually sell for $50 or more, but Purchase students get to see most of these shows for $5! It’s an absolutely remarkable deal that every single student should take advantage of.
Yet another amazing benefit of the PAC being on the Purchase College campus is the job opportunities it provides for students. I have two jobs here on campus; one as an Admissions Ambassador and one ushering at the PAC. For the shows that I work, I am actually getting paid to see the performance!!! Along with doing all of my other ushering duties as well, of course.
To conclude, I want to spread the word as much as possible about the beauty of the PAC. It really is a wonderful asset to this campus that should be utilized to its absolute fullest by students and all other members of our community alike!
