What makes Purchase different/unique?

I feel like the real question is “what doesn’t make Purchase different”. The ability to “Think Wide Open” goes such a long way on this campus. I feel like from campus events to classes, there’s always something different to check out. If you’re feeling adventurous you could go check out the Ropes Course in the woods. If you want to eat some cheese with your friends, go check out Cheese Club, fun fact… it’s one of the biggest clubs on campus. Remember that time you wanted to run away and join the circus? Now you get your opportunity to take a few Circus Skills classes for 2 physical education credits. There’s a lot of different alternatives for many different classes and that is just one of them. Interested in drag? Now’s your chance at Purchase to compete with many others in our annual “Fall Ball”. Fall Ball is a competition run by our LGTBQ club and often judged by RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants. Purchase has one of those campuses where you could see someone painting, playing a guitar outside, or shooting a film: and you wouldn’t bat an eye because it’s just the regular around here. Another unique thing about Purchase that I find unique is that THINGS DO NOT GO TO WASTE. The phrase “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” is very literal around here. We have this thing called the “Free Store” whose function is to accept donations from upperclassmen about to graduate and put it on display so people can come in and take them. Underclassmen could come into the Freestore and leave with radios, paintings, minifridges and clothing all FOR FREEEEEEEE. This school tries to make everything fun and that’s evident from the name of the residence halls to all the types of random events they throw on campus.
