What is ILLiad?

The Interlibrary Loan Internet Accessible Database (ILLiad) is the resource sharing management software used to process all interlibrary requests at Purchase College. The ILLiad system allows users to place requests, track requests, check due dates, request renewals, and view interlibrary borrowing history.

Who may request items?

Interlibrary loans are only available to current Purchase College faculty, staff, and students.

What kind of items can be requested through ILLiad?

ILLiad will help you obtain research materials not available at Purchase College Library. Some of the items available include:

books, book chapters, audiobooks, journal articles, DVDs, CDs, music scores, and other research materials.

Please note the following items may be difficult to obtain:

Theses or Dissertations

Whole volumes or issues of periodicals

Rare, fragile or archival materials

Multi-volume sets

The following items are not typically loaned through ILLiad:

Course Reserves

Ebooks

New, rare, or valuable books

Reference materials

Streaming media

How much does ILL cost?

ILL services are brought to you free of any charges beyond your tuition and fees.

How many items can I request at a time?

Currently, there is no limit to the number of ILL requests that you can place. We do reserve the right to block any patron that has overdue or recalled items.

I lost my ILL item! Now what?

If you lose or damage an ILL item, you are responsible for any replacement and processing fees charged by the lending library. If you are in this situation contact us and we will request an invoice.

Why was my book recalled?

If you receive an email notice that your interlibrary item has been recalled, please return it as quickly as you can. The item you have on loan has been requested to be sent back to the loaning library as soon as possible. If you still require the item, please place a new request for it in ILLiad or feel free to contact the Interlibrary office for assistance.

Where do I pick up my requests?

All books, audiobooks, CDs, DVDs, microfilms and music scores obtained through ILLiad can be pick-up at the circulation desk in the library. Please remember to bring your MoreCard to retrieve your materials.

If you have received an email stating your loan is for “in-library use only” please stop by the Interlibrary office during business hours to retrieve the item. If you have any questions, please contact the Interlibrary office.

If you have received an email stating the article you requested is ready, please click on the link located in the email and sign into your ILLiad account there you will be able to find your article. All digital articles are available for 30 days.

What is the orange card in my loan?

The orange card located in your item is Purchase Library’s loan paperwork. Please do not remove this card or any other paperwork that might be found in your item from a borrowing library. 

There is different paperwork in my item with several due dates which due date do I follow?

Please refer to the orange card located in your item for the proper due date.

How do I renew an interlibrary loan?

To renew an item, please log in to your ILLiad account and click on the “renew” link located next to the item you would like to keep. Please be aware that renewals are granted by the lending institution and can be denied. You will receive an email message when the renewal is complete. Most ILL materials are only renewable once. If you are denied a renewal you can re-request a copy from the main page of your ILLiad account.
