2016 Sexual Assault Awareness Week

April 4th - 8th

April 4th, SURVIVING IN NUMBERS, 11am-2pm, CCN lobby
Surviving in Numbers program invites survivors to make a poster describing their experiences using numbers and words. Survivors will be invited to stand on the Mall with their poster if they chose to in order to promote awareness about the issue of sexual violence.

April 5th, CLOTHESLINE PROJECT &  PART OF THE SOLUTION, 11am - 2pm, CCN Lobby
Clothesline Project is a way for student survivors to make a t-shirt about their own experience, or for allies to create a message regarding sexual violence. The t-shirts will be hung on a clothesline to bring attention to the issue.

April 5th, MINI SKIRT MARCH, 2-4pm, Begins on the Mall, March around campus
The mini-skirt march is a movement which began as an effort to promote the rights of women to be free of sexual harassment and violence regardless of their dress code. The march symbolizes solidarity with all victims of sexual crimes regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, culture or socio-economic status. Come join us in a march to promote a culture that rejects sexual violence!

GROUP HEALING, Wellness Center
Join Nancy Reuben for a group healing session.

April 6th, ARTISTS' SHOWCASE, 3-5:30pm, Red Room 
All students are invited to submit any form of art, music, dance, drama, or creative form that focuses on the themes of recovery from trauma, interpersonal violence and/or resilience. Please email Catherine.vanbomel@purchase.edu  to arrange times and submissions.

April 6th, TAKE BACK THE NIGHT, 6-10pm, Red Room
Speak out against sexual and interpersonal violence, and  Learn about the issue of sexual violence, the resources on and off campus, the RAD class and the on campus internships related to these issues. Students will be invited to participate in personal testimonies which will lead to a march of empowerment and a candlelight vigil.

April 7th, HEALING THROUGH ART & WORDS, 2-5pm, Wellness Center
Students will come together to write, color, draw and share. This year students will be invited to write “love letters” to survivors which will be displayed on campus, or paint yourself as a warrior.

April 8th, HEALING THROUGH MOVEMENT, 3-5:30pm, Great Lawn (weather permitting, or the Wellness Center)
This is a forum for students to enjoy being in touch with their physical selves and using their bodies in a fun and interactive way! Come join us for Zumba, Yoga, hoola hooping and dance! All forms of movement are welcome!
