The following is a list schedules that were taken into consideration as the schedule was created:
The Academic Grid
The primary purpose of Purchase College being the education of its students, the Purchase College Association recognizes the Academic Grid as being the most important consideration when creating the bus schedule.
Beeline Bus Schedule
Because Westchester County already provides a pay per-ride bus service that serves Purchase College, the PCA has made every attempt to provide service during the “off-times” in the Beeline schedule. This allows students the flexibility of taking either bus. Though the Beeline does charge a fee, the More Card office sells Beeline passes by the book. It’s only $35 for 22 passes.
Recognizing that the MTA’s Metro North service to Grand Central terminal is central to many students public transportation needs, we have ensured that all buses go to a Metro North station on every run. The White Plains Metro North station offers the cheapest ride, and also has express trains. Port Chester, however, offers service to Grand Central and to New Haven. While we have made an attempt to coordinate our schedule with the Metro North schedule, this has not always been possible, because of the competing needs. We have, however, ensured that whenever only one bus is running, that bus is well coordinated with the Metro North schedule.
Local Business Hours
We understand that students have a need to work, shop, and find entertainment off campus. For that reason we run loops to many local businesses. We have also tried to coordinate with the business hours of the Malls, Stop and Shop, and A.I. Friedman. While we are trying to provide the most convenient service possible, we are also trying to provide frequent service. Therefore, we have cut back on stops at Martine Avenue in the morning. Making that stop adds up to 15 minutes to a run. Student who wish to access Target, Applebee’s, Barnes and Noble, or any other business in that area should use the Galleria Mall bus stop.
