Athletes Shine at 28th Annual Awards Dinner

Purchase, NY (May 7, 2008) – Purchase College held its 28th Annual Intercollegiate Athletics Awards Ceremony and Dinner on Thursday in the upper lobby of the Performing Arts Center. 

Following the dinner hour and a performance by Purchase College's Thomas Larsen Jazz Group, event Master of Ceremonies Bobby Ciafardini, the Sports Information Director for Purchase, introduced Director of Athletics Ernie Palmieri for the welcome. Palmieri highlighted the college's achievements in 2007-08. Purchase College President Thomas Schwarz and Lynn Mahoney, the Associate Provost for Integrative Learning and Vice President of Student Affairs, also gave brief speeches about the growth of the athletic department. 

After the welcome messages, Ciafardini called up each of the coaches individually for their team presentations. Coaches selected the team awards, including Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year and Coaches’ Award. The team's Scholar-Athlete Awards were also given out during team presentations. 

Upon the conclusion of those awards, special individual awards were presented.
